Description

William Stirling 1830-2. Gothic, coursed whin rubble with freestone dressings. 3-bay rectangle with diagonal buttresses, W. tower with diagonal buttresses, arcaded parapet and pinnacles. Interior: ribbed semi-elliptically arched ceiling, no gallery, fine original canopied

pulpit. Late Victorian pews and colour decoration. Good marble sarcophagus wall monument to the Baillies of Luthrie, Dalziel (Edinburgh) 1824, brought from old church 1833; very fine 1421 Barclay slab, incised effigies and gothic tabernacle work in porch.

Statement of Interest

Ecclesiastical building in use as such. Picturesque site. The former Free Church (former item 817) is now completely derelict.
