Description

Robert Howe, architect. Erected 1835-6. Monument, prominently

sited on summit of Whita Hill. Tall obelisk on corniced and

inscribed square base, raised on steps and enclosed by spear-head cast-iron railings. Grey ashlar.

Statement of Interest

Prominent landmark. First stone laid 16 September 1835. Erected

in memory of Sir John Malcolm (1769-1833). Inscription

identifies architect and provides date.
