Early 20th century, probably W.L. Carruthers, Inverness.
2-storey asymmetrical/terrace of 6 dwellings. White harled
polished ashlar doorpieces cast (as sandstone ashlar) cills
and window jambs. Entrances; no 1 and 2 in 5 elevation, nos
3,4,5,6, in N elevation; nos 1 and 6 in single bay, 2-storey
porches projecting respectively at E and W gables. Round-
headed entrance with shallow concave chamfer set in square
headed, corniced polished ashlar doorpieces each decorated
with 3 small lozenges. Plank doors with blacksmith hinges;
no 5 flanked by single "porthole" windows. 2, 3, and 4 light
multi-pane casement windows in both ground and 1st floors;
wide gabled end bays project slightly both N and S. 4 gabled
dormers break wallhead in N elevation; 2 weather-boarded
wallhead dormers in S in loft floor in E gable of E porch
(No 1). Tall white harled corniced stacks break roof; slate
roof.
Said to have been built in 1914. No 1, with loft door over
porch, served as gardener's bothy. W. L. Carruthers is known
to have worked on former mansion of Belladrum (now
demolished).
