Description

Probably A & W Reid, circa 1875. 2-storey, 3-bay house; all
grey rubble with contrasting tooled red ashlar dressings.
Centre round-headed entrance in symmetrical SW front flanked
by canted bay windows; 1st floor windows rise through
wallhead under simple barge-boarded gables with cast-iron
finials. Similar 1st floor fenestration in east and west
return gables and to rear wing, which has further entrance
in projecting porch. 2- and 4-pane glazing; paired coped
central stacks; piended platform slate roof with solar
heating panels to front.

Statement of Interest

Sited on raised site overlooking steading and dairy, and

down valley towards park and ruins of Guisachan House.

Neither farmhouse, steading nor associated dairy appear on

1st ed. OS of 1872. A & W Reid designed most other buildings

on estate between 1855-75 plans surviving for all but farmhouse

and dairy.
