Dated 1783. Cylindrical dovecote; harled rubble with tooled
ashlar margins; rubble basecourse with half round step
to entrance, dated lintel; string course between doorway and
wallhead; conical slated roof with apex cast-iron weather-
vane and small south facing dormer with 2 rows flight holes.
Interior; walls lined with 227 tooled rubble nesting boxes.
Central potence pole survives, with iron pin at base and apex
with corresponding slot for apex pin in cross beam; base
plinth possibly buried below accumulated floor rubble.
Newton House now ruinous. Sited on slope above driveway.
Ladder formerly hung from central arm of potence which
revolved to facilitate collection of young pigeons for
culinary use.
