Description

18th century, much altered circa 1840. 2-stage lectern
dovecot; rectangular plan, 20' x 30'. Red rubble
sandstone with ashlar dressings and rat course dividing
stages; chamfered arrises to openings. 2-bay elevation
to S with doorway at centre and 2 windows above, each
breaking eaves in ogival gable dormerheads, and with
timber diamond-pane glazing pattern. Flight holes set in
2 gabled dormers with 14 holes in ech round-headed
panel. Side elevations blank but with decorative
Dutch-shaped skews, ashlar coped. Blank rear. 2 lead
pigeon-in-flight finials to lower corners. 1014 nesting
boxes lining interior.
