Description

Probably Shiells and Thomson, circa 1882. Single storey
L-plan Baronial lodge with modern extension at rear. Squared
and snecked red rubble sandstone with cream ashlar dressings
and base course.
N ELEVATION: circular entrance tower set in re-entrant angle,
breaking eaves roll-moulded door surround to fanlit, boarded
door, flanked to right by narrow window. Bowed end to
advanced left bay with 3 windows, centre window breaking
eaves in gabled dormerhead. Similarly detailed gabled window
to outer right.
E AND W SIDES: crowstepped gabled bays with battered wallhead
stacks, and with window to E side.
S ELEVATION: wide, harled extension to centre and right,
possibly absorbing masonry from original elevation.
6-pane glazing pattern to sash and case windows. Slate roof
with fish-scales to conical tower roof; leaded finials. Stone
thistle finials to window pediments. Ashlar coping to stacks.
