Description

Earlier 19th century, 2-storey NE facing wide 3-bay house
with advanced and gabled centre bay; later wings to rear
and at right angles to NW gable. Pinned grey granite
rubble, tooled granite ashlar dressings, rubble additions.
Centre entrance in pilastered and corniced painted timber
doorpiece; panelled door with rectangular fanlight with
decorative glazing. Pointed-headed window above with
intersecting astragals; canted bay windows in ground floor;
outer 1st floor windows rise through wallhead under boarded
gablets. 12-pane glazing; lying-pane glazing to canted bay
windows; varied fenestration and glazing to wings. Coped
end stacks; slate roofs with projecting eaves. Interior;
slender cast-iron balusters with palmette detailing to
staircase. Gate piers; pair square tooled granite gate
piers each supporting cast concrete cat. Drystone, roughly
coped, rubble wall.

Statement of Interest

Two chambered privy survives in garden to rear of house.

Cat is crest of MacPherson family.
