Description

Early 19th century. 1 of 2 identical stone footbridges over man-made water course. Random rubble with ashlar parapet. Small narrow arch flanked by drum piers, srumounted by cast-iron railings with urn and arrow-head finials to parapet.

Statement of Interest

Bridging a network of drains, shown on above plan, bringing water to ornamental lakes. J C Loudon attributes the ladnscape to Ramsay (as Wemyss House); see Loudon's ENCYCLOPAEDIA OF GARDENING p1251. A-Group with other Gosford Estate buildings; see notes for Gosford House.
