Earlier 19th century. Farmhouse with extensive steading,
latter mainly built around quadrangular courtyard and with
tall brick engine house stack, 18th century fabric
incorporated in lesser courtyard to S. All built of red
rubble with ashlar dressings, house with painted margins:
roofs mostly slated.
House: 2 storeys, 3 bays, with castellated S-facing central
porch, coped end stacks and piended U-plan roof: sash windows
with 12-pane glazing pattern. Lean-to additions to E flank.
Steading: 1 and 2-storey ranges. Principal courtyard block
has tall 8-bay E range with 3-bay cartshed and blocked tall
(?winnowing) opening to E, forestair to court, boarded upper
openings; gabled engine house in SE angle of courtyard with
tall square stack; pend in W range; blocked segmental archway
in S range opening in to lesser court, latter closed at W by
long 1 and 2-storey range.
