E ELEVATION: 2-storey square projection at centre, late 19th century.
Timber, sash and case windows with 2-pane lower sashes, and with lozenge patter to upper sashes at ground, and small-pane to 1st floor. Long wallhead ashlar stack as tablet to side elevations. Grey slate piended roofs.
INTERIOR: not inspected 2001.
GATES AND GATEPIERS: 3 channelled ashlar gatepiers to SE corner of grounds, with cornices, and squat conical finials. Decorative wrought-iron gates and gateposts.
LODGE: circa 1900 single storey mock timber-framed gate lodge. Squared and snecked red sandstone with chamfered arrises. Mock timber-framing to gableheads. 2-bay to SE, with gable at wallhead. Modern glazing. Swept eaves with barge boarding, red clay ridge tiles, grey slates.
A substantial villa sited prominently above the Quarter Cake, with distinctive glazing and fine boundary walls now in poor condition. The canted bays and the 2-storey square projection to the rear would appear to date to a substantial overhaul of the property in the late 19th century or around 1900, with the addition of new glazing and a Tudor lodge.
