Dated 1830, steading with classical detail; extension at east dated 1857. U-plan single storey steading with lofts. Whin rubble, with droved yellow ashlar dressings. Symmetrical west front has 7 bays, articulated by slightly advanced and broader, central and outer bays with pedimented gables and rusticated quoins. Central bay has door and round-headed loft opening breaking into pediment: datestone with crest above, and corbelled cupola over apex, supported on 4 columns and capped with obelisk. Outer bays have single ground floor windows, blind elliptical openings in pediments and apex stacks: inner bays have doors, and single windows to ground floor and loft. South elevation has 10 bays and additional large rectangular opening to east: 7 arcaded, depressed- arched cart entrances: single loft window over each bay. Droved ashlar square, battered stack of former engine house to east. Rectangular inner courtyard formed by U-plan block, and enclosed by (possibly earlier) rubble-built block with 3 parallel pantiled ranges. U-plan block roofs originally slated, now mostly replaced with modern interlocking
pantiles.
Arms in crest are presumably those of John Small who purchased Foodie in 1829.
