Alexander Reid, Elgin, 1864. Single storey and attic house
with rear raised basement. 3-bay E facing entrance front with
centre doorway fronted by curved Doric tetrastyle portico
pedimented at centre. Narrow side lights flank entrance,
advanced tripartites with piended roofs in outer bays.
Symmetrical S 3-bay garden front with advanced 3-windowed
bowed centre bay fronted by trellissed verandah and flanked
by advanced tripartites; 2- and 4-pane glazing. Small modern
flat roofed dormers break wallhead.
Corniced ridge stacks; piended platform slate roof.
Inverugie one time property of Cheyne/Keith family of
Inverugie, by Peterhead, Aberdeenshire. Owned subsequently
by Dunbars of Duffus, Young of Inverugie, Duffs of Drummuir
and purchased in 1852 by Peter Mortimer who partially
designed and built present house on earlier site.
