Terrace house. Late C18 with C19 alterations.
MATERIALS: Limestone ashlar, slate roof.
EXTERIOR: Three storeys, attic and basement, three windows, two twelve-pane sash dormers above two-light horizontal bar casements, with deeper casements and transom lights at first floor, to cast iron balcony rail, on six brackets. Ground floor windows also two-light casement, and small light to basement, left. Central six-panel door in Doric stone doorcase with 3/4 columns and closed pediment. Full width wooden plate runs beneath stone platband, moulded cornice, blocking course and parapet, all returned to front in Little Stanhope Street. Front has mansard returned at hip, with deep two-stage ashlar stack, and single twelve-pane sash dormer above casements in three bays as to front, that to corner with balconette. To right, panelled door in architrave and with hood gives to No.5, Little Stanhope Street (qv).
INTERIOR: Inspected 1981, No.1 has no particularly interesting features, No.2 has a Georgian fireplace with hob grate and original staircase with Georgian colonnettes. No.3 has original fireplace and a good regency fireplace with roundels. No.4 has large dresser in the basement with doors that have octagonal glazing with diamond inserts. Original C18 architraving.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: Frontage has simple cast iron railings, returned at end and to doorway, on ashlar curb to rounded top.
