II

Large house. Mid C18. Red brick and stucco with hipped plain clay
tiled roof. Lean-to roofs to wings concealed by curvilinear
parapet. End stacks with oversailing detail and pots. Symmetrical
composition. Design utilises steeply sloping site by
incorporating terrace supported on brick semi-circular headed
arches and accessed by flight of steps to each end. Single-depth
'T'-shaped plan with flanking wings. Gazebo projecting forward
from each wing forms stop-end to terrace. Main house of 3 storeys
on basement, flanking wings part single-, part 2-storey. 5
(1:3:1) first-floor windows. Brick detailing includes paired
pilasters to each end of main house and single pilaster between
windows, linking entablature below second-floor windows;
dentilled eaves band. Stucco details include pilaster doorcase
with decorative blocking course. Majority of windows are 1/1
sashes; flat arches with keystones, moulded sills. Semi-circular
arched openings to gazebos. 6-panel entrance door, plain
fanlight.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
