The Old Lodge

GV II

Villa. c1830 with later additions. Stucco over brick with
concealed roof. Double-depth, central hallway plan.
EXTERIOR: 2 storey, 3 first-floor windows. Stucco detailing
includes first-floor band surmounted by pilaster strips to
ends and between windows rising to cambered arches above
windows and low parapet. 2/2 horizontal-pane sashes
throughout, that to ground floor at right is tripartite
between 2/2 sashes. Central entrance a 3-panel door with
fanlight and deep reveals, in round-arched, tooled surround.
Similar stucco detailing to return.
INTERIOR: noted as including original joinery including
panelled shutters.
All the listed buildings in Wellington Square form a good
group. A significant subsidiary element of the group around
Wellington Square. Possibly built as a nurseryman's house.
