Keynsham House

Detached house, now in 3 separate ownerships. Early C19 with
late C20 additions. Whitewashed render with stone dressings,
concrete tiles to roofs and gable end rendered brick stacks.
STYLE: Late Georgian.
PLAN: double-depth plan with tall, central block and lower,
attached wings.
EXTERIOR: 3-storey; 3-window range to centre, 2-storey;
1-window wings. Symmetrical south front with end pilasters
with incised key fret decoration, projecting cornices,
blocking courses and gabled roof to centre, half-hipped roofs
to wings. Small extension to east and larger, late C20
addition to west return wall. Centre has 12-pane sashes in
plain reveals with sills except central first-floor window
which is tripartite with square-section Doric mullions;
18-pane sash to left of central porch and single light to
right. Left-hand wing has original fenestration with
round-arched opening to ground-floor creating Diocletian
window above and paired casements below; 12-pane sash above
and smaller 12-pane sash stepped down to right. Right-hand
wing has been altered with arched window and large sash
blocked and single-light C20 windows introduced. Projecting
porch with paired Doric pilasters, entablature and French
windows. Canted bay to ground-floor on east return wall and
further 12-pane sash fenestration to this wall and to rear
with central windows blocked and painted in imitation.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
Forms a group with Gateway and railings to Nos 31, 33 and 35
(qv).
