Farmhouse, now house. Probably mid/late C16 with possible
earlier origins and later additions and alterations including
probable former stable range late C17/early C18 to left and
some C19 remodelling.
MATERIALS: square panels of timber-framing with remains of
close-studding to ground floor at right on blue lias stone
plinth with reddish brick nogging; rear facade is entirely
close-studded with reddish brick infill; reddish brick to
right part, plain-tile roof; interior has wattle and daub
infill.
PLAN: 3-unit plan with L-shaped range to left.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys, 4 upper-floor windows. Off-centre right
entrance has plank door in moulded wood surround and is
flanked by 3-light casement windows; to left a further 2-light
casement. Range to left has further casement and plank door,
under cambered arches. Upper floor has 2- and 3-light casement
windows. Most small casements with lead cames. Gabled roofs.
Diagonal stacks and ridge stack to right. Purlins exposed to
right gable end.
INTERIOR: has extensive close-studding especially to original
left exterior wall. Wattle and daub infill. Stop chamfered
beams, wood mullion window. Inglenook fireplace to left side
of main stack has bressumer beam with deep chamfer, to right
side a Tudor-arched stone fireplace. Plank doors, 6-panel
door; stone flags to ground floor, gypsum plaster floors to
first floor. 2 bays of queen post roof trusses exposed;
purlins. The ground floor ceiling has been raised.
