Terraced houses. c1825. Probably designed by Amon Wilds and
Charles Augustin Busby. Stucco. Roof of slate turnerised.
EXTERIOR: 4 storeys over basement. 3 windows each. Right
return has 5-window range. Ground floor has banded
rustication. Entry to No.113 round arched with fanlight, entry
to No.114 on right return, round arched and set within a
prostyle porch consisting of fluted Doric columns, pilasters
and entablature, the frieze of which has a key pattern;
blocking course; entry to porch flat arched with overlight;
side walls glazed. Elevation of each treated as full-height
and full-width segmental bay, all windows flat arched; storey
bands between second and third floors; additional storey band
between first and second floors of No.114; No.113 has a
cornice and parapet pierced by a balustrade which is crested
by a rectangular panel terminating in volute brackets on end;
cornice to No.114 missing on main elevation but extant on
return where there is a parapet. Both have a 2-storey porch
with a balcony enclosed by cast-iron railings on the ground
floor and the first floor only of No.114; first floor balcony
supported by twisted cast-iron colonnettes; ground floor
supported by wood and metal frame rising from basement area.
Camber-arched windows in right return are blocked, except for
the first-floor window at the corner; canted bay to first and
second floors of fifth bay to rear. Stacks to party walls.
INTERIOR: not inspected. Railings to stairs and areas.
Nos 111-119 (consecutive), 122-133 (consecutive), and 133A
Marine Parade (qv) form a most important group with the whole
of Marine Square (qv).
