House, now flats. Pinkish-brown brick in English bond with
painted stucco to front and side facades. c1824-1836, with
later alterations.
4 storeys with basement, 3 first-floor window range. Tall
Tuscan pilasters to ends and between windows to first and
second floor. Canted bay to left from basement to first floor.
First floor: canted bay has first-floor band; to centre a 6/6
sash otherwise 4/4 sashes, in tooled architraves. Otherwise,
6/6 sashes with raised cornices. Second floor has 6/6 sashes
throughout. Third floor has 3/6 sashes with tooled surrounds.
Ground floor: 3 steps to central entrance a part-glazed,
6-panel door with fanlight with radial glazing within C20
part-glazed porch. 6/6 sash between 4/4 sashes to canted bay.
6/6 sash to right. Low parapet, side stacks.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
HISTORICAL NOTE: Portland Street was laid out 1823-1824.
