Croston's Brow: First Cottage

GV II

House, one of a pair. Probably later C18; altered. White
painted roughcast render probably on brick, slate roof with
rendered chimneys. Double-depth 3-bay plan (plus C20 addition
to rear).
EXTERIOR: single storey; 3-window range. C20 gabled porch
off-set left; one window to the left and 2 to the right, all
segmental-headed 2-light casements with C20 glazing. Gable
chimneys and ridge chimney off-set right.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
Recognisable example of a type of dwelling formerly
characteristic of this locality. Forms group with Second
Cottage adjoining to left (qv) and with Nos 1, 3 & 4 Cotty's
Brow (qv).
