II
Farmhouse. Late C16/early C17. Renovated and enlarged mid C20. Timber
framed and plastered with a pantiled roof. 2 storeys and attic. 2-cell form;
a third cell to the south may once have existed. Standard casement windows,
gabled porch and door, all of mid C20 date. One original mullioned window
above porch. Large gabled addition above roof. Internal stack: original base
with inset panels at front and rear, each with a sawtooth brick course; mid
C20 shafts above in sawtooth form. Much of the studding is visible inside and
the basic layout of the house is intact. Evidence for original windows with
chamfered mullions and diamond glazing bars, 2 still complete. Both ground
floor rooms have axial bridging beams with chamfered joists set flat.
Original newel stairs (2 flights). Some C16-C17 internal doors. Roof timbers
not visible.
