Accommodation bridge. Early C19. Red brick; stone copings, strings
and rubbing blocks up to impost level. Elliptical arch, string at
carriageway level; parapet cambered over span with piers at ends set
diagonally. This bridge and one adjacent (q.v.) form nearly a pair
over the 2 limbs of the main canal and the Leek Branch. The Leek
Branch of the Caldon Canal was opened circa 1801 to supply Leek with
cheaper coal, John Rennie engineer.
