Pair of adjoining houses. C16, C17, C18, with C19 and C20
additions and alterations. Dressed stone, timber framing with
brick nogging, brick. Hipped and gabled pantile roofs. Stone
plinth, pargetted first floor band on south end, diaper work,
dentillated eaves. 2 gable, single ridge and single wall
stacks. 2 storeys, 4 bays wide by 5 bays deep. South front has
4 bays of timber framing with 2 strutted corner posts and to
right, single bay C19 brick addition. Off-centre door, flanked
by single C20 casements. Beyond, to right, C20 French window and
to right again, plain sash with segmental head. Above to left, a
Yorkshire sash, and to right, 2 C20 casements and a C19 sash.
East gable has a plain sash with segmental head. North side has
4 bays of timber framing with a jowled corner post. To left, C20
door, and to right, a blank recess flanked by single Yorkshire
sashes. Above, 2 Yorkshire sashes. East front has to right, C20
single storey addition, brick with hipped pantile roof. Off-
centre door flanked to left by a small light and beyond, blocked
window. To right, casement with segmental head, and another
door. North end has a C20 casement. West front has off-centre
door, flanked by single Yorkshire sashes, all with segmental
heads. Beyond, to left, a small light and a C20 casement; to
right, small light and a damaged doorway with timber lintel.
Above, to left, a C20 casement flanked by single Yorkshire sashes
with segmental heads. To right, light in blocked opening, and to
right again, unglazed opening with timber lintel. South end has
a pair of corner posts and a single C20 casement on each floor.
West wing interior has barrel vaulted brick arch in north end,
chamfered span beams and joists, hewn sleepers set in solid
floor. Single bay post, span beam and 2 cambered tie beams.
Principal rafter roof with ridge piece, strutted collars and
single tenoned purlins. Stairs have 3 framing posts and portion
of stud wall. Interior of east wing not examined.
