Farmhouse, now house. Late C18 or early C19, enlarged in the early C19.
Red brick, with evidence of former limewashing. Slate roofs. L-plan;
later service wing (see straight joint) Three storeys with 2-storey
wing. Toothed brick eaves cornice (with remains of wooden dentil eaves
cornice to rear). External brick end stack to right and integral
lateral brick stack to rear. Central first-floor small glazing bar sash
with keyed grey sandstone lintel and stone cill. Door to left with 6
raised and fielded panels, panelled reveals and soffit, architrave with
shaped brackets (probably formerly to hood) and grey sandstone Tuscan porch
with 2 columns supporting frieze, moulded cornice and blocking course.
Rear: 2+1 bays; glazing bar sashes with keyed grey sandstone lintels and
painted stone lintels. Right-hand first-floor window taller, probably to
light staircase. Door to right with 6 raised and fielded panels (2 glazed),
panelled reveals and soffit, plain architrave and shaped brackets to
triangular-pedimented hood. Wing : sandstone plinth, dentil brick eaves
cornice, and roof hipped to front. 2 bays to front; glazing bar sashes
with stone cills and lintels (blank right-hand ground floor). Left-hand
return front has 3 irregularly-spaced glazing bar sashes to each floor,
with stone cills and lintels. Ground-and first-floor segmental-headed
small-paned cast-iron windows in gable end to rear, with boarded door to
right. C20 conservatory in angle at rear. Interior not inspected, but
late C18/early C19 staircase noted, with open string cut brackets, stick
balusters and wreathed newel. Included for group value.
