Farmhouse. Mid-C17, partly refaced or rebuilt in the mid-to late C19.
Timber-framed on coursed sandstone rubble plinth with plastered and
painted brick infill, partly rebuilt or refaced in painted and rendered
brick to north-west and south-west; C20 interlocking concrete tile roof.
four framed bays, aligned approximately north-east/south-west. Framing:
square panels (3 from sole-plate to wall-plate) with short straight
corner braces; scotches on rear wall. One storey and attic. South-east
front: two C20 flat-topped eaves dormers with 2-light metal casements;
central brick ridge stack just to right of entrance, and long painted
coursed sandstone rubble external end stack to right with red brick top
stage. Three-window front; C19 three-light segmental-headed wooden casement
to right, C20 three-light metal casement off-centre to left and small
C19 segmental-headed casement to left; segmental-headed boarded door off-
centre to left between first and second windows from right; C20 lean-to
concrete-block porch with central 3-light casement and door to left. Four
windows to rear and two C20 raking brick buttresses. Interior not fully
inspected but chamfered beams noted in kitchen. V.C.H., vol. VIII, p.307.
