House. Early C17, partly prefaced and extended in the mid-to late
C19. Timber framed on brick plinth with painted brick nogging.
Refaced in rendered brick to front and extended in brick at rear, both
painted in imitation of framing. Slate roofs. Framing: square panels
(3 from sole plate to wall plate) with long straight tension braces.
T-plan. Lobby-entry hall range of one framed bay with gabled cross
wing to right of one wing and one long and one short-bay to right. C19 addition
at rear forming L-plan. One storey and attic. Central brick ridge
stack. Flat-roofed dormer to left with 3-light wooden casement.
Ground-floor C19 segmental-headed 3-light wooden casement to left,
full-height hipped square bay to cross wing with 4-light wooden casements.
Central C19 lean-to porch in angle of cross wing with pair of half-
glazed doors. Left-hand gable end has tie-beam truss with queen struts.
Right-hand return front with small gabled dormer. 2-storey C19 rear
wing with dentil brick eaves cornice, central brick ridge stack and
one-storey lean-to to rear. Interior: left-hand ground-floor room
has deep-chamfered beam (running front to back) with large ogee stops,
and chamfered joists with ogee stops. Large open fireplace with deep-
chamfered wooden lintel. Ovolo-moulded spine beam in right-hand ground-
floor room, suported on carved wooden bracket at right-hand end.
Oak dog-leg winder stair at rear of cross wing, with turned balusters
to first-floor landing. Old oak floor boards. Chamfered purlins.
