Farmhouse, now house. Mid-to late C18, altered in the early C19 and
again in the mid-to late C19. L-plan; later C18 and C19 additions
at rear. Red brick with plain tile roof. 2 storeys and gable-lit
attic. Dentil brick eaves cornice. Integral brick end stack to
left and external brick end stack to right 3 bays; C18 first-floor
wooden cross windows with segmental relieving arches, and central fixed
Venetian window with curved Y-tracery. Ground floor refenestrated
in the early C19 (including widening); glazing bar sashes (16-pane
to left and 20-pane to right) with painted stone cills and lintels.
Central early C19 door with 6 beaded flush panels, 2-part rectangular
overlight with bars behind, pegged oak frame, and flat hood on shaped
brackets. Late C19 one-storey addition to right with dentil brick
eaves cornice, and boxed 4-pane sashes to front and right-hand return
with painted stone cills and lintels. 2-storey parallel range at
rear with central brick ridge stack. 2-storey rear wing with projecting
bread oven and small integral lateral brick stack. Interior: late
C18 staircase, rising in straight flights, with closed string, rectangular-
section stick balusters (probably a later alteration), ramped moulded
handrail, and beaded square foot newel post. Right-hand ground-floor
room (probably C18 kitchen) has large open fireplace with chamfered
wooden lintel. Left-hand ground-floor front room: C18 raised and
fielded dado panelling. C18 fireplace with lugged architrave, frieze
and moulded cornice, and flanking segmental-headed recesses with moulded
imposts. Small room to rear of left-hand room with evidence of former
corner fireplace. First-floor not inspected. Old photographs show
the house with 3 gabled dormers (see also difference in colour of roof
tiles).
