House, latterly divided. Mid-C17 with mid-C20 alterations. Timber
framed with painted brick nogging. Northern gable end rebuilt in
rendered brick. Slate and C20 machine tile roof. Framing: small
square and rectangular panels, 3 from sole plate to former wall plate.
Eaves raised by one-panel's height in the mid-C20. Baffle-entry plan
of 2 framed bays. 2 storeys. Central brick ridge stack. 4-window
front; C20 one-, 2- and 3-light wooden casements. One ground-floor
C19 cast-iron lozenge-pattern window. Boarded door between first and
second windows from left with C19 gabled timber framed porch. Right-
hand gable end: jettied first floor with hewn brackets. Collar and
tie-beam truss with queen struts. Interior: pairs of chamfered beams
with ogee stops. Ground-floor chamfered wall plates. Large open
fireplace with ogee-stopped chamfered wooden lintel. The house formerly
extended one bay further to the north. The owner (May 1986) possesses
a photograph of the house when it was 3 cottages, before the third bay was
demolished and the eaves were raised.
