Engine Bridge (Number 84) at SD 601 221

Accommodation bridge over Leeds-Liverpool canal. 1812-14. Supervising engineers Joseph and James Fletcher, contractor John Withnall. Graduated squared sandstone. Elliptical arch with rusticated voussoirs (painted white), simple keystone, band, parapet with rounded coping, pilastered ends; almost flat deck. Crosses shallow cutting along contour of slope.
