Whins Bridge (Number 83) at SD 601 218

Accommodation bridge over Leeds-Liverpool canal. 1812-14. Supervising engineers Joseph and James Fletcher, contractor John Withnall. Squared sandstone. Elliptical arch with rusticated voussoirs (painted white), simple keystones, band, parapet with rounded coping, pilastered ends curved outwards; almost flat deck. Crosses shallow cutting along contour of slope.
