Upper Barn situated at Fell View Farm.
(Formerly listed as: Upper Barn situated at Stanley Coppice Farmhouse)
II
Barn. Probably C16, much altered and enlarged in the late C19. Cruck framed, with
later random rubble walls; corrugated iron gable-end roof. The importance of the
building lies in its 3 large, full cruck trusses: massive blades with blocking pieces,
spur ties and subordinate spurs, and yokes. All pegged, morticed (some timbers halved)
Trenched staggered purlins. The truss type suggests an early date. Otherwise the barn
is C19: front with doorways and 2-light windows, one section projecting forward under
a catslide possibly marking former position of threshing doorway; rear with irregularly
disposed C19 openings, but with some early framing visible.
