House, formerly one of the cottage homes built by the Leicester Poor Law Union
in 1884. Architect I Baradale. Brick with Welsh slate roof, cruciform plan.
4 irregular bays on the main elevation with the kitchen wing extending out at
the rear and one gabled bay left of the centre projecting forward. Irregular
fenestration mixing 1, 2 and 3 light casement windows with some mullions and
transoms. Other are vertical sashes. All have flat arched heads. Top half
of projecting bay is painted plaster and wood. To the left of this is a
decorative chimney stack with brick stack surmounted by pitched slate roof
with gables. This is supported on a modillion course. Rising from this base
are two brick flues diagonally set. The right hand gable, facing onto the
drive has two deeply recessed windows each under gauged brick arches with
voussoirs and brick hood moulds above. To the right of the projecting bay is
a brick and Welsh slate porch, in a "muscular" style.
