Farmhouse. Mid-late C17 with possible older origins, altered C19 and C20.
Ironstone ashlar with limestone dressings, thatch and slate roofs, brick end
and ridge stacks. 3-unit plan. One storey and attic; 2-window range.
Central 2-storey canted bay window becoming dormer above eaves with hollow-
chamfered stone mullion windows originally, of 3 lights to front, single
lights to sides, with hood moulds. One stone mullion survives to dormer
window, rest have been replaced by wood mullions of casement windows. Bay
window has stone-coped gable with corbelled kneelers. 4-panel door to left
of centre with hollow and wave-moulded limestone surround. Footscraper
niche to right of door. 2-light casement window to ground floor right with
stone lintel, 2-light casement to ground floor far left with C19 segmental-
arched brick lintel. Similar window to 1st floor above which has been
raised in red brick and has slate roof. Stone-coped gable to right with
kneelers. Right side elevation has 4-light stone mullion window to ground
floor with 1 light blocked in brick.
Single-storey outbuilding range to left of coursed squared ironstone has
pantile roof. Prolonged by one bay in brick.
Interior: One full cruck truss with collar and saddle. One tier of purlins
to roof, one wind brace and ridge piece.
Ground floor has chamfered spine beams, one with broach stops. Open
fireplace with cambered stop-chamfered bressumer. C19 Derbyshire
fossiliferous marble chimneypiece in dining room.
