House, formerly manor house and farmhouse. Early C17, extended early C18
and altered C20.
Ironstone ashlar with limestone dressings, slate roof, brick central ridge
stack with 6 square flues, rebuilt C20.
Cruciform plan.
2 storeys and attic; 3-window range.
Central, full-height porch with round-arched doorway with stop-chamfered
jambs, moulded imposts, and moulded round-arched head. 2-light ovolo-
moulded stone mullion window above with hood mould. Similar, smaller window
to gable. Another gable behind that of porch.
Main block has ovolo-moulded stone cross window to ground floor left, C20
timber cross window to ground floor right. 2-light ovolo-moulded stone
mullion windows to 1st floor. Chamfered plinth, moulded 1st floor string
course, stone-coped gables with kneelers. Full-height stair turret to rear
corresponding to porch to give cross plan with stone-coped gable. C18 2-
storey brick extension to rear left in re-entrant angle with stair turret,
with 3-light casement windows to ground and 1st floor, that to ground with
segmental-arched head, and lean-to-roof.
Interior has ogee stop chamfered spine beams. Large fireplace in kitchen
with cambered, chamfered bressumer.
Stone Tudor-arched fireplaces to 1st and attic floors.
