Nos12 to 16 (consec) were formerly Nos 5A, 6A, 7, 8, 9.
Irregular terrace, largely early C19 in appearance, although the cambered window
arches and some inside panelling suggest an early C18 origin. Each house 3
storeys, one window. Multicoloured stock brick with parapets. Some gauged, flat
brick arches and some cambered brick arches to windows which are mainly restored
sashes with glazing bars.
No 12 some brickwork replaced possibly after war damage. Door of 6 panels (upper
4 glazed), with moulded cornice head and patterned radial fanlight, in stucco-lined
reveal. No 13 1st floor window a french door, with margin lights, giving on
to square wood balcony wmth trellised sides and swept hood, supported on curved
brackets. Lower part of balcony in tongue-and-groove boarding., and 2 square
supporting posts added below. Similar door to No 12 but fanlight blocked. Fire
assurance sign at 1st floor right.
No 14 Recessed windows inserted under older arches. Stucco lined reveals. 2nd
floor window a C19 casement. Recessed panel in parapet above. Door of 6 panels,
the upper 4 glazed, in stucco surround with gable-shaped peak.
No 15 C19 casement window on 2nd floor. Door similar to No 14.
No 16 Ground floor later sash in early, cambered recess. 1st floor balcony and
window as No 13. Door as No 14.
Roof visible from return as V-shape pantiled roof with central gully.

All the listed buildings on Ballast Quay, and, No 18, form a group.
