Mid C19 stock brick building in 2 sections. Lower left part, with overhanging
eaves, has 3 bay arcaded ground floor and 3 louvred round-arched lights above.
Only window heads glazed; lower parts bricked up. Left lean to extension. Projecting
buttress leads to taller 1 bay right section with high round arched opening,
bricked up. 6 bay arcaded right return also blocked.
Inside 100 hp compound beam engine of 1888 by Wood Bros. of Sowerby Bridge. 28
foot fly wheel still movable, and whole in process of restoration. Framework
and platforms of cast iron with fluted columns and palmette pattern frieze. Fluted
blocking course and brackets support upper platform. Valve housing is a short-columned
Doric Order.
Building is arcaded inside and has original iron glazing bars, with angle paterae,
in position.
