1856. Administration block of former London District Schools. Rest demolished
circa 1890. Central block of 3 storey, 7 bay wings. Ten bay single storey
rear wing at right angles to front block. Clock tower over junction of front
and rear blocks. Yellow stock brick with stucco dressings. Front central
block with arcade on foliage capitals and bulbous columns. Band courses
below, above and at abacus level on 1st floor. Paired arched lights with
roundels in spandrel to first floor windows set in arcade. Oculi over spandrels.
Semi-circular 2nd floor windows. Bracketed top cornice. Wings with segmental-headed
sashes to ground floor, round-headed to first and second. Clock tower with
blind arches below clock-faces and arched belfry over with obelisk finials.
The building is prominently sited.
