Former shelter for destitute boys and lodging house for very poor working
lads. 1912-1913. Designed by A E Hughes. Red brick; stone dressings.
5 storeys including full attic storey, plus dormers. 5 bays to Horseferry
Road with 8 bay return to left. Rusticated quoins. Entrance to left and
right of Horseferry Road facade with segmental stone hood square headed
flush framed window sashes, glazing bars; keystones circular window to
left at third floor level wih semi-circular stone hood. Modillion cornice
above third floor. Of considerable historic interest especially its
associations with the movement to emigrate destitute boys.
