Inn, now Inn and shop. C17 or earlier, C18 brick front. Timber frame,
brick nogged at rear, red brick front now painted. Steep red tile roofs.
A large 2-storeys and attics L-shaped inn facing S, with wide
carriageway to rear yard through LH end of frontage, part next to this
now a shop (No. 36) and long rear range running along E side of yard.
Front has 3 flat dormers on roofslope, eaves band and plastered eaves
soffit, 3-light casement window over carriage entrance, flush-box sash
windows elsewhere with 10/10 panes over shop and on each floor on RH,
and 2 of 8/8 panes on each floor of inn. 6-panel raised and fielded door
to left of RH window with pedimented hood replacing former canopy. W
wall of No. 36 exposed in carriageway of close-studded timber framing,
and 2-bays deep carriageway a separate structure with broad flat joists.
Gabled dormers on rear roofslopes and timber frame exposed inside. Long
1½ storeys hipped rear wing with gable on W side timber framed with
brick casing.
