House. Circa 1850, for Thomas Morse, a local brewer. White brick, hipped
slated roof. 2 storeys. 4-bay facade with pilaster strips at the angles.
Inset sash windows with glazing bars under flat brick arches; the left hand
ground floor window is blind. 2 of the paired louvred window shutters remain
in position. The doorway has a 4-panel door in 2 leaves, plain rectangular
fanlight and an open porch on 2 pairs of slender columns with entablature
above. 4-bay garden front to left hand return, some of the sash windows now
with large panes. To the right of the entrance front, behind a screen wall,
is the stable yard, with coach house and stable block on 2 sides. Both are of
red brick and unaltered, the stables with 3 semi-circular headed cast iron
windows. The interior of the house is intact; there is a well stair with
stick balusters and carved tread-ends.
