Farmhouse. Mid C16 with slightly later former dairy wing to rear. A further
rear wing was under construction at the time of survey (October 1986). Timber
framed; at the front the ground floor is clad in colourwashed brick and the
first floor has exposed studding, the studs re-faced in mid C20. Most of the
remainder is plastered. Both the brickwork and plasterwork have a modern
textured coating. Wavy bargeboards. Pantiled roof, with concrete tiles at
the front and clay tiles at the rear. 2 storeys and attic. A long 3-cell
range. 4 windows, mid C20 standard casements with small panes. Lobby
entrance: 2-storey plastered and gabled porch with mid C20 entrance door.
Internal stack, most of the shaft of C16 date; a later gable stack to the
left. The hall has a moulded bridging beam with leaf-carved stops and
similarly-moulded joists with run-out stops. The rails at each end of the
room are also moulded. The lintol over the hall fireplace is enriched with
moulding and leaf-carved decoration. Chamfered-joist ceiling at service end,
divided from the hall by a narrow bay for the original cross-entry. The
service partition against this bay has been removed. Remainder of interior
not examined.
