House, now 2 dwellings. C15 or early C16, extended and altered early
C17 and C19. Timber frame, plastered. Steeply pitched corrugated sheet
roof. Originally probably a 2 bay open hall with a storeyed lower end,
parlour bay and stack added to form a 3 cell cross passage plan. 1 storey
and attic throughout. Entrance in cross passage position between service
and hall bays to left of centre, a recessed boarded door with flanking
2-light glazing bar casements, all with headboards, a 3-light gabled dormer.
Parlour addition has an entrance to left of centre with a 6-light part
opening transomed casement with hoodboard, 2-light gabled dormer. Axial
stack behind ridge to right of centre. Left gable end entrance and attic
3-light window, bargeboards. Set back slightly to right is a lower C19
1-storey and attic clay lump addition, 2 light casements, shallow pantiled
roof. To rear parlour bays project slightly further with higher eaves,
clay lump and brick outshut. Interior: earlier cottage to left not inspected.
Parlour has close studding largely concealed, ogee stop chamfered cross
axial binding beam and storey posts, 3 and 4-light diamond mullion window
openings, roof not inspected.
