Farmhouse, now 2 dwellings. C17 and possibly earlier in at least 2 phases.
Extended and altered late C19, altered C20. Timber frame, plastered.
Extended and part cased in red brick. Slate roofs of varying pitches. A 3
cell main range with a cross gable to left leading to an additional early
block to rear left. C19 and C20 additions to form a large irregular rectangle
on plan. 2 storeys and attics. Entrance front: C20 gabled brick porch to
right of centre, 3-light C19 glazing bar flush frame casements with a C19 dual
sash to right. Boxed eaves. Left bay has a C19 gable to front reflecting an
earlier roof with an original ovolo moulded tie beam below a pentice board.
Steeply pitched main roof with a 2-light raking dormer, towards left a rebuilt
cross axial stack and a small hip down to slightly lower cross range. Right
gable end external stack, rendered with offsets, exposed plates and purlins,
slightly lower eaves to rear. Secondary block extending further to left and
set well back has a large C20 lean-to front, an axial stack in front of ridge
raised in C19, a hip to left end with an early exposed plate towards front, 2-
light raking dormers, C20 brick casing to garden. Garden front: C19 red brick
additions to centre and left behind main range. To right of centre a gabled
wing projects further with recessed segmental headed tripartite sashes, an
attic oculus, bargeboards. To left ground floor tripartite sash and gabled
porch, first floor dual and tripartite sashes, hipped roof. Interior not
inspected. Attached to lean-to to front left is a small formerly detached
kitchen or dairy outbuilding now converted. Plastered timber frame with a
steeply pitched slate roof. 1 bay, 1 storey. Gable front has a C20 window,
exposed plates and purlins.
