House, formerly 3 almshouses. c1890. Red brick with plaintiled roof,
decorative band and crest tiles. In a loosely Tudor style. An L on plan. 1
storey and attic. Entrance at canted outer angle of L in an original gabled
porch, boarded doors to a pointed arch with an elaborately traceried head,
similarly elaborate bargeboards, flanking finely leaded lights. Roll moulded
angles to returns with moulded plinth, dentilled brick eaves. Right return
has a canted bay window with Tudor flower panels at base, glazing bar
casements, to far right a door with ornamental strap hinges. Gothic fanlight
in a gauged brick pointed arch with hoodmould. Left return has 2 small
casements with a diapered tympanum in a gauged brick round relieving arch with
hoodmould, a cross casement with a hoodmould and to far end a half glazed
door with a fanlight in a gauged brick pointed arch, hoodmould. 3 gabled 2-
light casement dormers to centre and on returns. Main stack is behind ridge
on right return with a large axial base, 6 octagonal shafts with moulded bases
and capping; cable, braid and honeycomb shafts, a similar stack on front pitch
of left return with zigzag and fleur-de-lis shafts. Left gable end has a
cross casement with fishscale patterning in a gauged brick round arch with
hoodmould, brick diapering and dentillation in attic with 2 small casements.
Right gable end canted bay window, similar attic. To rear right a lean-to
outshut. Interior not inspected. Included for group value. Formerly known as
Church View.
