Former farmhouse; early C17, the service wing added mid C17. Timber-framed
and plastered with cable-pattern pargetting in large panels. Plaintiled roofs
with axial chimneys of red brick, mainly rebuilt C19 and C20. 2 storeys and
attics. 3-cell cross-passage entrance plan main range; 3-cell service cross-
wing of 2 storeys. Late C18 and early C19 small-pane casements, some with
transomes; several windows of c.1630 with ovolo-and cavetto-moulded mullions,
one with some old square and hexagonal paned leaded glazing. Battened and
boarded entrance door with early C20 open gabled porch on posts. Some good
original internal features, including a complete plank-and-muntin cross-
passage screen with hollow-chamfered muntins, close-studding, open fireplaces,
and wind-braced butt-purlin roof. Probable mediaeval moat, partially
infilled.
