Tomb of Thomas Reynolds (d.1867)
Marble, base of Pennant stone. A tall, octagonal shaft (part-hidden by ivy at the time of inspection in 2002), standing on an octagonal pedestal with moulded base and cornice: to each face is affixed a console, running the full height of the pedestal. The effect is that of a ship's capstan: Reynolds may well have had shipping connections, being a Bristol man. The detailing is taken from the Italianate villa architecture of the sort practised by Henry Goodridge and James Wilson in Bath. A very unusual memorial, listed for its architectural quality.
