House, now two cottages. C15, extended and altered Cl7 and again mid-C19.
Timber-framed, brick infill, brick replacement walling and refacing, plain
tiled roofs, paired brick stacks to front main ridge and two external
sandstone chimneys with detached brick shafts to right side elevation.
Former cruck hall house from which three framed bays and three pairs of
full crucks survive, single framed bay added to rear right during Cl7
and chimney inserted in central bay; single storey, attic with dormers
and cellar. Framing: three panels from sill to wall-plate, some long
straight braces in lower corners and short straight braces in upper
corners of rear wing; collar-and-tie-beam truss with queen struts at
left gable end and gable end of wing, otherwise cruck-framed. Front
elevation: ground floor has three 2-light casements with cambered heads,
two gabled dormers, one with a 2-light casement and one is blocked,
entrance at right end bay, part-glazed door with cambered head. Attic
light in left gable end and also entrance into second cottage. Lean-to
extension at right gable end enclosing external chimneys. Uninhabited
and in dilapidated condition at time of survey (September 1984).
