House. c1600, restored mid-C20. Timber-framed, painted brick infill,
plain tiled roofs, two large external sandstone stacks at rear centre
and rear left wing with paired, star-shaped brick shafts, also external
brick stacks to right side elevation. H-shaped plan; hall of two
framed bays with two framed bay right cross-wing and left wing of three
framed bays, the rear end bay of which appears to have been partly rebuilt
in brick, encasing former external stack; two storeys. Framing four
square panels from sill to wall-plate, short straight braces in upper
corners, collar-and-tie-beam trusses with queen struts and V-struts
in apex. Front elevation: C20 windows and doors; central part has a
large, gabled half-dormer with 4-light casement and on ground floor two
2-light casements either side of central door; left cross-wing gable end
has three 2-light casements on both floors; right cross-wing gable end
has a ground floor 4-light casement and three first floor 2-light case-
ments. Interior: hall has cross-beamed ceiling and arched doorhead
retained in rear wall at right side, probably from former through-
passageway.
