House, now offices. Mid-C18 with mid-C19 and mid-C20 alterations.
Brick, stuccoed to front with partly-hipped plain tiled roofs and left and
end rear stacks. Two storeys with moulded plinth and eaves cornice and
sill bands. Five plus one bays; rusticated quoins at ends of five-bay part;
windows have moulded architraves and keyblocks; windows have all been
replaced in C20 by plate glass with an opening upper light on the ground
floor and by 2-light windows with transom lights on the first floor. Main
entrance at centre of five-bay part has a C19 pilastered surround and
moulded flat canopy; door has six raised and fielded panels and plain
transom lights. Interior not inspected. The additional bay at the right
end appears to be of mid-C19 date and is similarly detailed to the rest of
the front of the building except that it has no sill bands or end quoins.
One of the oldest buildings surviving in the town centre.
